Boulder Friends

The day after the Harley dealer convention we dropped Grandma Toni off at the airport and Scott, Karlie and I headed up to Boulder to visit my good friend (since kindergarten) and her three year old little boy. We had a great time goofing around on Pearl Street with Sonya and Leif.

Next door the the Flaffel House where we had lunch was a bath scrub shop. If you look up at the top left hand corner of this photo you will find that "Buffy" is their most wanted scrub flavor. Sonya snapped this picture for me.

On Pearl Street in the summer, one of the fun things to do with your kids is to let them play in the pop jet fountain. It was a little chilly that day, but since life is short we decided to let the Karlie and Leif have some fun. Karlie was scared to do it by herself for a while, so Scott and I had to play in the fountain too. But once she figured out that if she stayed on the yellow bricks in the middle she wouldn't get sprayed in the face, she got a little more brave.

Almost got ya!

Trying to stay on the path and stay dry.

Run as fast as you can so they don't get you. I guess you can run faster with your tongue out. Scott and I are worried that she is going to fall and bite off her tongue, since it seems to be out a lot these days!

It is okay now if the water gets our arms. The fear is slowly fading.

Leif was not afraid at all. He ran right out there ready to get wet.

Anticipation.

This one is just funny.

Water up the shorts. Might have been a little more refreshing if it had been a little warmer out.

Water in your face is less scary with a friend.

Right to left: Me, Leif, Karlie and Sonya.

Waiting for the water is just as much fun as when it comes up.

Can you hear the giggles?

Leif is only a year older that Karlie, but a whole head and shoulders taller.

I wonder what will happen if we put this ball over the hole?

We just ate, so I am not sure why they are both eating toys.

I guess wet toys taste good.

She looks a little upset. I think one of the fountains got her in the face. But she went right back out there.

After the fountain and some drying off we headed to the play area. There were no swings and slides. Downtown Boulder has, well, boulders to play on. And the kids had just as much fun as they would have if there had been a play structure.

Daddy had to help her get to the top.

Leif on the go.

Leif was big enough to make it to the top solo.

Karlie, Leif and a very pregnant Sonya. (Karlie thinks her baby in her tummy is a girl!) I guess we will find out in a couple of months.

We had such a great time hanging out. The kids played while we got to catch up. Unfortunately we only had an afternoon to spend together, but maybe next time we can head up there and stay for a few days. Boulder is a great place for families and kids. There is so much to do there and with great friends living there, we can't wait to go back!
