Karlie got this amazing play structure for Christmas from Grandma Toni and Grandpa Scott. We had to wait quite awhile until we could build it, since it was not a project we wanted to do in the snow. Karlie asked about it all the time and kept wanting me to go out in the garage and open the box so she could see. Scott decided that mother's day weekend would be a good time to do it. For Karie and for me.
Unpacking the puzzle. I think Karlie didn't believe us that this was going to be a swing set when we were finished. But she got right in there and helped us take the pieces out of the box.
Here she is measuring the slide. She said it was just right!
She figured out how to use the wrench and "helped" put the glider together.
To me this seemed to be a strange first step, since this is the last thing you attach to the tower.

Kady and Morgan stop by to check on our progress. Unfortunately it wouldn't be finished before they left town and headed for home.
But the girls managed to find things to do instead.
Jim, a friend of the family spent the weekend helping us out. Here they are building the tower.
Karlie had to test it out.
By nightfall they got to attach the slide and the swing beam. At that point we found out that the factory sent either the wrong brackets and/or an incorrectly drilled board. Scott and Jim rigged it so it was safe for Karlie to swing on until the new parts arrived. We thought it would be torture to have it out in the backyard for a week and not to be able to use it.
Karlie got to stay up late and have her first slide.
And her first swing. It was a long weekend, but it was so close to being finished. Just a few more things to do when the correct parts come.
