Today was the Hershey's Youth Track Meet. This is the first weekend. It is considered the practice weekend to get the kids ready for the official one next week. One nice thing about the town we live in is that they have events for the kids under nine, most towns don't. Of course they won't get to go to state if they win, but it is still nice to have something for them to do. And the volunteers do a great job of encouraging the kids and reminding the parents that this is supposed to be fun and not about winning.
Yesterday Karlie came and asked me if the race was going to have eggs and spoons. I told her that it was just a regular running race and not a spoon race. She told me that I needed to tell them about having eggs there.
Karlie came in seventh in this race. But she got a ribbon for participating. She also ran the 200 meter, but she came in last. She was still proud of herself and thought she won when they handed her the ribbon!
Getting ready for her big jump. She jumped a whole 12 inches on her third jump. I didn't think that a foot would be enough, but she came in third!!
